Reading The Bible In 7 Days | Is it possible? – Spiritual Reset With God

When I was a young teen I read my bible cover to cover a few times. I remember reading so much every day and being fully immersed in whatever portion I was reading. At the time the bible was the only thing that brought me comfort; to me, it was my way of hanging out with God and I could never get enough of it.

As I grew older and finally started going out more I pulled away from my time with God, I stopped reading my bible, I didn’t listen to worship music much, and I stopped writing music for God. My relationship with him took a dark turn and since I haven’t been a very good child.

I miss my relationship with the father and I miss feeling connected to him and being in tune with what he wants for me and my life.

Is it possible to read the bible in a week?

Honestly, probably not; at least not with the time I have to offer. Having a full-time job and my own business to work on it doesn’t leave much time for reading.

However, I don’t plan to retain everything I read; this is going to be more about setting my mind straight and getting an overview of the Bible once more. I remember all the main stories we are taught as children but there are plenty of gold mines that either I forgot about or just didn’t process from the previous time reading.

To finish the bible in 1 week, I would need to read 215 pages or 170 chapters a day.

I’ve read plenty of books in a day, yet they are usually around 350 pages long, and book pages have way fewer words than Bible pages. But I’m not going to let the logistics deter me from trying.

Start date

Currently it’s the 15th of September and I had thought about starting today but it’s 4pm and I’d rather start the day off strong.

On the way home, I plan to stop at the Christian bookstore I have in my town and get some highlighters and anything else I can think of that will make this easier and help me absorb as much as possible.

The highlighters will be to organize what I read and I’ll probably have a notebook handy as well. As I read I’m going to write down certain spots I would like to reread and study and perhaps, share with you guys on here as I go.

I don’t really have anyone who would want to do this with me so you all are going to be my study buddies. My goal is to update you guys daily with what I feel, learn and etc.

Reading in a certain order?

For this challenge I think I’m going to read back-to-back. There are ways to read the bible that are in order and make the most sense; however this is an impulsive decision, and I feel like God will still show me what I need to learn from this even if I don’t do it perfectly.

Distractions

Distractions are going to be my biggest issue as I tend to procrastinate. So in order to remove that possibility, I’m going to cut out all social media, and I won’t be texting/calling my friends that much this week. Starting this challenge on a Tuesday is hopefully going to be in my favor as I’ll have the weekend to read as well, although that may bite me in the butt later.

I will also be waking up at 5:30 am this week to hopefully have more time to read. I will also install an audio Bible on my phone so I can listen to it when I’m doing other tasks such as crocheting, cooking or even while I’m at work.

I feel like my biggest challenge is going to be headaches. Last week I tried to change my wake-up schedule to a very very early time and since I have epilepsy, that didn’t go too well. Due to that I’ve been dealing with awful tension headaches, which will hopefully tone down.

Ending thoughts

This challenge is going to be unrealistic and hard to achieve; however, I haven’t been this excited to read my Bible in awhile. If you’re interested in joining me I hope you will and I can’t wait to tell you guys how it goes.
